The curiosity behind my work
Why do some men experience significant thinning in their twenties while others retain thick hair into their sixties? That question, together with my own experience of a red, sensitive scalp and thinning hair, fuelled my determination to understand the causes.
My trichology studies and extensive independent research are driven by scientific curiosity and a commitment to want to genuinely help men with hair loss and explore meaningful treatment options.
Qualifications supported by ongoing research
My education includes certification through the World Trichology Society, learning with Dr David Kingsley and David Salinger of the International Association of Trichologists, and assessment and mentorship with Traci Radford.
I combine this foundation with my dermal qualifications, trichoscopy training and years of independent research, including learning from international dermatologists, hair transplant doctors and hair restoration clinics.
This work informs our RegenScalp AFRP® protocols and the ongoing training I provide to our small team, who also hold a certificates in trichology.
Hair styling and hair-loss assessment are different skills
Barbers, hairdressers and wig providers make us look good and feel better. That alone, however, does not establish expertise in investigating the many causes of hair loss. Seven reasons come to my mind in an instant.
When seeking advice, ask to see qualifications in trichology and scalp assessment rather than assuming cutting, styling or supplying hair systems provides the same knowledge.
Before covering your scalp
Before committing to a wig, glued-on hair system or continually hiding thinning hair beneath a hat, have your scalp professionally assessed. You may be preventing an improvement of a fuller looking head of hair with the correct advice and treatment.
A hair system changes appearance but does not resolve an underlying scalp condition. Fit, ventilation, attachment and cleaning matter. Perspiration and product build-up can become uncomfortable, while adhesives may irritate sensitive skin. Persistent odour, itching are the last thing a scalp trying to grow hair requires.
Let’s understand what is happening
You do not need to know the cause before coming in. I will listen, examine your scalp using trichoscopy, explain the findings and discuss realistic options, including medical referral where needed.
There may be more help available than you realise. My role is to help you understand your options and feel supported in deciding what comes next.
