Back in the early 2000s, I was working as a beauty therapist and running a large, award-winning unisex salon. I was also a mother of teenage sons, and their friends often came to me for help with acne. For some, those concerns and their visits continued into adulthood.
They felt comfortable coming to someone they knew. It made me think about how hard it could be for a man to ask for help elsewhere, especially when walking into what was traditionally a predominantly female “beauty salon”.
Even today, I believe there are too few places where men feel completely comfortable doing that.
After selling my salon in 2007, I continued working in fashion, television and on-location hair and makeup. From getting grooms ready for their wedding photos to working with Supercar Legends and Fox Sports AFL commentators, I’ve always enjoyed helping men feel confident.
I wanted to create somewhere men could call their own, a place to feel comfortable, speak openly and receive professional care without judgement. That’s why I opened MrWax in 2014, now Men’s Hair & Skin Clinic Perth.
Whether it’s unwanted hair, thinning hair, lines & wrinkles, acne, uneven skin tone, pigmentation or lax skin, we're here for you. Living in our harsh climate brings its own skin challenges, too. You don’t need to know which treatment to book, we can work through that together.

Tricia Trotman
I created Men’s Hair & Skin Clinic Perth because I saw a need that was being overlooked. Men deserved their own private environment to discuss concerns, receive professional treatments and feel comfortable looking after themselves. My passion is seeing the difference that greater confidence can make in a man’s life. Whether someone comes in with too much unwanted hair, hair thinning, a skin concern or something they have felt embarrassed about for years, I take the time to listen and treat them with respect, discretion and care. Men’s wellbeing is central to the clinic. I love having the opportunity to contribute through Men’s Talk and my training as a Mates in Construction Suicide Connector. Encouraging open conversations, listening without judgement and connecting men with appropriate help are values I bring into my work every day.I choose our team carefully, placing as much importance on kindness, confidentiality and professionalism as technical ability.

Grace Trotman
Having been part of our family business since 2014, I am passionate about creating a welcoming environment where men feel comfortable discussing their skin and hair concerns. I hold a Graduate Certificate in Cosmetic Lasers & Dermal Therapies and am a qualified Laser Safety Officer. My experience includes skin rejuvenation, collagen induction therapy, scar revision and RegenSCALPAFRP® treatments. I am currently on maternity leave, enjoying time with my growing family while continuing to work behind the scenes on clinic administration and coordination. I remain closely connected to our team and the care we provide, with men’s confidence, privacy and wellbeing always at the heart of what we do.
